Delete your account
You can delete your iMatch account and the data attached to it. Your account is hidden from everyone at once, and deleted after 30 days. Until then you can change your mind: sign in and choose Rudisha akaunti (restore the account).
The quickest way: in the app
Open iMatch and go to Wasifu → Akaunti → Hatari → Futa akaunti (Profile → Account → Danger zone → Delete account). On older versions of the app it is in the ⋮ menu at the top right of Wasifu: ⋮ → Futa akaunti. Confirm with your password, or by typing FUTA if you sign in with Google. You are signed out straight away.
A Google Play subscription is not cancelled by deleting the account. Cancel it in the Play Store (Payments & subscriptions) so you are not charged again.
If you cannot open the app
Send us the request here. We will contact you on the number below to check it is really you, and answer within 14 days. Then the account is deleted the same way: hidden at once, deleted after 30 days.
What gets deleted, and when
- At once: your profile is hidden from everyone, you are signed out on every phone, and notifications stop. Your matches end and your chats close; the people you talked to keep their copy, read-only.
- After 30 days: your profile — name, phone number, email, password, photos, bio, prompts, voice intro, religion, preferences and location. Where your name still appears it reads “Mtumiaji aliyefuta akaunti” (a user who deleted their account). If a report about you is still open then, this waits until the report is decided — at most 12 months — and your phone number stays on the account until then.
- After a further 90 days (a safety window, so that a report about you can still reach us): your own messages, voice notes, community posts, comments and room chat are replaced by “removed”, and their photos and recordings are deleted — unless a report about you is still open.
Other people’s messages, comments and answers are never deleted with your account: they belong to them.
What we keep
- Payment records (mobile money, Google Play purchases and gifts): for 6 years, as Tanzanian law requires.
- Reports, and the evidence attached to them (the chat as it was, both profiles, the times): for 12 months after the case is closed. If the report ends in a ban, the evidence is kept for 2 years.
- If an account was banned for abuse, the ban and its phone number stay, so that it cannot sign up again.
Nothing kept this way is shown to anyone on iMatch.
